UPMC Children’s in Harrisburg launches child-friendly technology

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — UPMC Children’s in Harrisburg has unveiled its newest piece of technology, designed to help children prepare for critical MRI scans.

According to UPMC, the new MRI simulator and cinema system is a child-friendly system that aims to transform what can be an intimidating and stressful experience into a calming one by projecting visuals.

“We’re so grateful to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation for their support,” said Matthew Connors, development director, UPMC Pinnacle Foundation. “Their generosity is bringing smiles, comfort and joy to countless pediatric patients and their families at UPMC Children’s in Harrisburg.”

The new technology was created with the support of the Dunkin’ Foundation. UPMC says that moving forward, $1 from every iced coffee and cold brew sold at participating Dunkin’ locations nationwide will be donated to the Joy Childhood Foundation to help battle child hunger or illness.
