UPMC Pinnacle Foundation Funding
Managed and administered by the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation, UPMC in Central Pa. offers two types of funding opportunities: UPMC Pinnacle Foundation Internal Innovation Grants and UPMC Community Impact Grants. Internal Innovation Grants support projects within UPMC in Central Pa. hospitals that enhance patient care, improve facilities, and advance medical research. Community Impact Grants support local non-profit organizations whose work promotes health and wellness and addresses critical public health needs across the region.
Both funding types are essential for healthcare and community well-being, targeting different areas and stakeholders.
Types of Funding
UPMC Pinnacle Foundation Internal Innovation Grants
Internal Innovation Grants are awarded to hospital programs within UPMC in Central Pa. to further our ability to find innovative solutions to the issues outlined in our strategic plan. As part of our commitment to addressing social determinants of health and reducing barriers to care, these grants help fund innovative programs and initiatives that support our patients, strengthen our workforce, and improve the overall health and well-being of the communities we serve.

UPMC Community Impact Grants
UPMC in Central Pa. is proud to support local non-profit organizations through the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation’s Community Impact Grant Program. Established by Foundation volunteers and staff, this program provides meaningful support to organizations facing emergent needs by funding projects that align with our mission to improve access to and quality of care throughout Central Pennsylvania. Through these community partnerships, we are helping to strengthen essential programs and create a healthier future for all.
Typical award amounts range from $5,000 to $10,000. Larger funding requests will be considered for partner organizations that provide essential care to UPMC Central Pa. patients.

Funding Priorities
· Programs or services that address social determinants of health, especially for our most vulnerable communities.
· Initiatives that promote health and lifelong wellness within the 11-county region* served by UPMC in Central Pa.
· Workforce development efforts that increase access to health care and help UPMC in Central Pa. attract, train, and retain skilled, compassionate employees.
*Projects must be within Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Juniata, Lancaster, Mifflin, Perry, York, or Lebanon County.
Application Timeline & Board Meeting Schedule
We accept funding requests year-round. Our Board of Directors reviews funding requests bi-monthly during their regularly scheduled meetings.
Funding decisions are based primarily on your project’s alignment with our funding priorities, as well as your organization’s existing relationship with the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation as an established community partner.
If additional information is needed, Foundation staff will contact you to further discuss your program. All applicants will be notified once a funding decision has been made. Please allow a minimum of eight weeks for the review process.
