Patti Katzenmoyer, Naomi Whittaker, Caroline Gindhart at UPMC Divine Mercy

I was originally a patient of Patti Katzenmoyer in 2013 at Holy Spirit due to prior miscarriages and infertility. She started me on labs and medication for PCOS. I began cycle reviews after learning the Creighton Model with Brandy, RN. I worked very closely with Tammy and Carolyn in the fertility care office. I first saw Dr. Daggs in 2014 for a pre-op. The next time I saw her was in the OR. She performed laparoscopy and excised endometriosis. I conceived naturally about 9 months later and had a hershey 9 lb 8 Oz beautiful daughter in august 2015. I was on progesterone injections the entire pregnancy and I’m convinced that is what maintained my pregnancy. I have continued my Gyn care with the team and followed them to UPMC divine mercy. I’ve also referred countless women to the practice who have been frustrated and disheartened by their former Gyn care. I saw Dr. Whittaker because I was having very heavy bleeding during my periods and I thought I needed another laparoscopy. She immediately ordered labs to check my ferritin and iron stores, which were extremely low. I also had an ultrasound to check my uterine lining and ovaries. That showed a fairly large cyst, so she had me get progesterone injections to shrink the cyst. She ordered iron infusions, which I did about once a week for 5 or 6 weeks and felt amazing after! She also prescribed Tranexamic Acid to control my menstrual bleeding so that I didn’t end up in the same situation again. I have continued progesterone injections so that my cycle doesn’t come early. Without it, I bleed about every 21 days. Dr. Whittaker advised me that the progesterone is important for breast health, as well, because breast tissue needs to have a proper length of time to cycle. I continued my care with Caroline Gindhart who is just as amazing as the other providers. I had some breast concerns and she happily referred me to the UPMC high risk breast center, who helped me determine a comprehensive approach to my health. I truly cannot say enough good things about everyone at UPMC divine mercy. They originally saved my pregnancy and have continued to treat me with care and concern into what I believe is now my pre menopausal years :) my only hope is that the practice continues to grow and recruit competent providers so that even more women can receive such amazing care! Thank you!!!
