Originating from the vision of Dr. KimberLee Mudge, the initiative champions holistic healthcare by addressing root causes of illness through methods such as diet and exercise. The Farm to Hospital program endeavors to combat food insecurity throughout York County by providing fresh, healthy produce to UPMC Memorial patients, staff, visitors, and the wider community, promoting improved health and wellness.

UPMC Pinnacle Foundation partners with York Fresh Food Farms (YFFF), a local non-profit dedicated to growing and distributing affordable produce to the York community, to employ a farm manager and farmhands for daily operations. The YFFF team selects a variety of produce to be grown and rotated seasonally, providing fresh food to patients and the community year-round.

The program's objectives include establishing and operating a year-round farm on 3-5 acres, harvesting approximately 10,000 lbs of fresh produce annually, distributing produce to York City food deserts, UPMC Food Services, and local food banks, tracking co-op participant data, providing nutritional education, and creating a permanent produce stand. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the Memorial Health Fund of the York County Community Foundation, the Powder Mill Foundation, York Excavating Co., and all our donors for their generous support.

Join us for this transformative event as we collectively strive to build a healthier community.
