The SaveStation now allows the community to access the AED when seconds count.

A new lifesaving tool is now available on City Island in Harrisburg and one resident used it to save a life. The Peyton Walker Foundation and UPMC Pinnacle Foundation helped install a new “Save Station” at FNB Field, home of the Harrisburg Senators. The Save Station is a weatherproof cabinet designed to protect an AED that can restore a person to a normal heart rhythm during a heart attack. Having an AED in the stadium has already saved someone’s life during the Prostate Cancer Walk.

UPMC Pinnacle Foundation Supports Reunion for NICU Babies and their Families

Former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients reunited with the UPMC nurses and staff at the NICU Reunion Pajama Party. The event was organized by UPMC Magee-Womens and UPMC Children’s in Central Pa. with support from the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation. This is the first UPMC in Central Pa. NICU reunion since the COVID-19 pandemic.

A new camera system installed at UPMC Magee-Womens in Carlisle’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) allows new parents and family members to check in on their hospitalized infants. The password-protected webcam system called NicView, gives families a virtual connection to their newborns around the clock from anywhere in the world, UPMC in Central Pa. said.

UPMC Memorial hosts Veteran’s Day event

In York, UPMC Memorial held a ceremony for staff, patients, and visitors. They do this every year and UPMC leaders say they make a special effort to recruit and retain veterans. Michelle Del Pizzo, President of UPMC Memorial said, “They come out of, you know, positions and within the military and they have to make that transition. And we really value their leadership skills, their appreciation for our country, their diversity.” Before the event, the planning committee sold small American flags as a fundraiser for the UPMC Pinnacle Foundation’s Helping Hands fund.

Woman fights breast cancer diagnosis while husband is treated for leukemia

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Pamela Prowell, 54, is a childcare director and has two adult children. Pamela and her husband, Thomas Prowell, were married for 30 years. In February 2022, Thomas found out he was diagnosed with leukemia, and soon after, in May 2022, Pamela found out she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
